My name is Sally, my Muslim friends call me Asma. I am thirteen years old, and I converted to Islam on February 16, 2010.
I was born to a non-practicing Catholic mother and a Conservative Jewish father. I was raised a reform Jew and became very ‘into’ Judaism. I had plans to become a Bat Mitzvah (daughter of the commandment) and a rabbi at the age of eight.
When I was twelve, I finally became a Bat Mitzvah. I also sparked an interest for other religions, specifically, Islam, as most of my friends at the time were Muslim. SubhanAllah, I got my hands on an English translation of the Holy Qur’an! The more I read, the more I researched. I read even more about Judaism, and I started to disagree with it more and more.
A small group from our temple took a tour of the local Masjid. That was it. I HAD to convert. I knew in my heart that Islam was the Truth-the answer to all of my problems. On February 16, 2010, I sat with my Muslim friends on the floor of my school library and said the Shahadda.
As of now (May 2010) my parents do not know of my conversion. I have been told by many not to tell them until I am eighteen. It is hard to be a Muslim in a conservative family who thinks that Muslims are terrorists. Until I am eighteen, I will continue praying in closets and studying Qur’an at midnight. InshAllah everything will work out in the end
Do you wonder why anyone would choose Islam as their religion? Would you like to know how I found Islam? Are you wondering who I am? Curious to know what my background is?
My father raised me on his own and as a Christian. He worked hard to teach me Christian values. I read the Bible a lot when I was in elementary school (I skipped the words I did not know) and noticed there were some contradictions (i.e. eating pork, Jesus’s peace be upon him supposed death) and a lot of gross stories of incest.
When I was Twelve I knew I did not really believe in Christianity anymore, but I did not know what to think. I continued searching out God and praying to Him for the truth. I sought God a lot and very hard. I had a lot of questions on my mind:
“Everybody, at some time or another, asks themselves the question: “Why do I exist?” or “For what purpose am I here on earth?” read more »

[O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your "awliya": They are but "awliya" to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.] (Al-Ma’dah 5: 51)
This brother accepted Islam where there was no Muslim, in Bahamas. It’s just amazing that someone would find Islam in the middle of non-muslims, drugs, alcohol, sex..etc. SubhanAllah!
Listen to how this brother accepted Islam. His daughter was extremely sick and was about to die eventually for sure (and he still has the x-rays of the disease). So, in this moment of helplessness and distress he turned to Allah and asked Him for help. He promised Allah that if He saves his daughter and guides him to Truth (i.e Islam), that he would be a good believer. Mashallah, Allah saved his daughter and guided him to Islam, and since he has been a practicing Muslim. As for the disease, it has just gone. Before and after x-rays do not even match, because there is no disease anymore! Allahu Akbar!
Jewish Rabbi condemns Israel and its Zionist Government. He describes how jewish community lived peacefully and happily, how they shared food and took care of each others’ children, before Israel’s illegal establishment in Palestine. He points out that Zionism is actually a secular ideology that was founded by atheist founders.
Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “On the Day of Resurrection, the sun will come so close to people that there would be left only a distance of one Meel…(Saheeh Muslim vol.4, p.1487-8, no. 6852}
Yes, the sun will be so close up on your head and there is only one shade on that day that can save you, and that’s the shade of the Throne of Allah (SWT).
“That Day shall a man flee from his brother. And from his mother and his father. And from his wife and his children. Every man that Day will have enough to make him careless of others”. (Quran 80:34-37)
Here are some close up photos of the surface of the sun.
So, brothers and sisters in Islam. Please don’t waste your life with useless, trivial things that won’t benefit you on that day - on the Day of Regret. Instead work on your ibadah, ask forgiveness from Allah SWT so that you may be successful on Judgment Day.
May Allah save us from the punishment of the death, grave, Judgement Day and Hellfire. Ameen.
