- Prophet Muhammad was an orphan. His father Abd Allah died before his birth, and his mother Aminah died when he was about 6 years old. He was taken care by his uncle Abu Talib.
- He was illiterate, he could neither read nor write.
- His first marriage was to a widow woman called Khadija, he was 25 years old and she was 40 years old. They were happily married for 25 years. Khadija passed away when she was 65 years old. During his marriage to Khadija he was not married to anybody else.
- He had 2 sons from Khadija both of them which died in their childhood.
- He first received the revelation from God when he was 40 years old, on the mount of Hira, through Angel Jibril (Gabriel).
- He believes in the same God as the Jesus (in Islam Jesus is considered a prophet, not a God), Moses, Abraham… and all the other prophets of God.
- He is the last prophet that God sent to mankind, there won’t be any prophets after him until the Day of Judgement.
- He was the descendant of prophet Ismail (Ishmael) the son of prophet Ibrahim (Abraham).
- He was mentioned in the Bible as the coming prophet:
Deut.18. “I will raise up a prophet like you from among the brethren and will put my words in his mouth and he shall speak them all that I command.” - His prophethood lasted for 23 years, during which he received revelations from God. After his death revelations were compiled as a book called Quran.
