Barakah Husein Obama

husein obama

Every Muslim who is living in a non-Muslim land, particularly in the West, should always be concerned with their children and children’s children. How will they be? What religion will they follow, once I am long gone?

It’s for this reason that some scholars deem it haram to live in a non-Muslim land. Unless you are there for a temporary reason e.g to study, to make dawah etc. But if you are there to live among the non-Muslims, while there are so many Muslim countries that you can relocate to, then it’s haram to stay in that country.

It’s my personal opinion that, the reason for scholars to deem it haram may be, because your children or grandchildren will end up converting to other religion. Just like Barack Obama, whose father is Hussein, was a Kenyan Muslim who, according to Obama, lived in a village with a lot of other Muslims but apparently didn’t practice himself. Therefore, it’s even more dangerous if the Muslim who live in the non-Muslim country do not practice Islam. Because when the parents do not practice, the children will most probably follow their footsteps.

Every parent wants their children to make dua for them after they pass away. However for them to make dua for you, you need to upbring them properly and you need to give them an Islamic environment. It’s only then that they will be able to practice their religion and be a pious Muslim (Inshallah).

Imam Anwar al-Awlaki is Released from Prison

imam anwar al-awlaki

Our beloved brother and great scholar of Islam Imam Anwar al-Awlaki had been released from prison, where he was held for no reason without charges for one and half years, in Yemen. He was released on 12th December 2007.

He sent message to all brothers and sisters through email:

“The time I spent in detention was a great blessing from Allah. They were moments of contemplation and study which I was greatly in need of. Alhamdulillah, Allah has blessed me during that time of solitude with tranquility and peace to the extent that at most of the time I was preferring detention over freedom. Now that I am free I ask Allah to enable me to thank Him for his blessings.

“I am greatly moved to know that many of my brothers and sisters have been asking about my situation and praying for my release. I thank them all. May Allah reward all of you with Paradise.”

There is an interview with him at muslimmatters too.

Inshallah, we can expect more great lectures from Imam Awlaki. You can find his previous lectures here.

Why God has a name in Islam?

Now (in this era) the word god is used for many things, including idols and people (prophet Jesus (pbuh), Mary (pbuh), Buddha… etc). Every religion claims to have the God on their side, and everyone claims to have the right God. Be it idol or human being.

What we Muslims say is, “Our God is not same as yours, our God is Allah”. This is said best in the Quran:

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

Say : O ye that reject Faith! I worship not that which ye worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship.

And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship. To you be your Way, and to me mine.

Surah: Al-Kafiroon (unbelievers)

Fingerprints in Quran

There are more than 6.6 billion people in the world, and each of them having unique fingerprints. How big is the area on your fingertips? 2cm by 2 cm? Can you fit 1000 different designs in 2×2cm area? How about only 1 million? Not to say more than 6 billion… of course it’s an impossible thing to do.

That’s the power of Allah SWT! Verily He is the All Powerful, and everything is Be and It is, for Him. Allah says regarding fingerprints: read more »

Evil eye, is it true? Can the bracelets protect you?

Is there such a thing as “evil eye”? Can human being harm another by just looking (or staring) enviably at him/her? The answer is yes.

Imam al-Bukhari reported on the authority of Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The effect of an evil eye is a fact.”

If “evil eye” is a fact, then can the evil-eye beads (see above) protect the person from the evil eyes? The answer is “No”. So what is the protection then?

Protection lies with Allah alone. Nothing happens by itself, everything that happens in this world are happening with the Will of Allah. In other words, if Allah lets it happen then it will. Therefore, in order to protect ourselves and our loved ones from the effects of evil eye, we need to make supplication (ask) Allah to always protect us. Because if Allah protects you, nothing can harm you! Absolutely nothing!

more on evil eye here.

Media’s Muslim Portrayal, joke

A man is taking a walk in Central Park in New York. Suddenly he sees a little girl being attacked by a pit bull. He runs over and starts fighting with the dog and succeeds in killing it and saving the girl’s life.

A policeman who has been watching the scene walks over and says: “You are a hero! Tomorrow you can read it in all the newspapers: ‘Brave New Yorker saves the life of little girl’.” The man says: “But I am not a New Yorker!” “Oh, then it will say in all the papers in the morning: ‘Brave American saves life of little girl’.” “But I am not an American,” says the man. “I am a Saudi!”

The next day the newspaper says: “Islamic extremist kills American dog.”

Sami Yusuf - Asma Allah

It’s always encouraged to praise Allah SWT, because all the praises really belong to Allah Almighty. And to send salutations to our beloved prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), because he is the best of the creation. The song is Mash’Allah very good, both vocally and in terms of lyrics.

As for the instruments used and the characters shown in the video clip, it’s an arguable issue for many Muslims. Especially those who are not practicing Islam (i.e praying five times) and those who are not veiling themselves (i.e wearing hijab (headscarf)) will say that it’s acceptable to do such things in Islam. But saying simply haram (prohibited) without the explanation will too, cause many backlashes from the public.

A Muslim, who follows the commands of Allah SWT, and whose intention is to always please Allah, will try his/her best to follow the footsteps (sunnah) of prophet Muhammad (pbuh). He will try to do things that our prophet encouraged and try to avoid the things that prophet disliked or prohibited.

Based on this understanding, when a Muslim is doing something, he always must think “Is this something that prophet would do?”, “Is it something that prophet would encourage me to do?”. And if the answer to these questions is “No”, then it’s recommended not to proceed with that thing.

So regarding the clip, put yourselves in Sami Yusuf’s place and ask yourselves those two questions. I think the answer is quite clear.

Allah knows best!

And then they will be gathered to Hell

The Unbelievers spend their wealth to hinder (man) from the path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend; but in the end they will have (only) regrets and sighs; at length they will be overcome: and the Unbelievers will be gathered together to Hell
Quran 8:36

The Words of Allah Almighty explains it best.

And no Muslim should take part in this so called War On Terror.
