In an unprecedented move, an open letter signed by 38 leading Muslim religious scholars and leaders around the world was sent to Pope Benedict XVI on Oct. 12, 2006. The letter, which is the outcome of a joint effort, was signed by top religious authorities such as Shaykh Ali Jumu‘ah (the Grand Mufti of Egypt), Shakyh Abdullah bin Bayyah (former Vice President of Mauritania, and leading religious scholar), and Shaykh Sa‘id Ramadan Al-Buti (from Syria), in addition to the Grand Muftis of Russia, Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo, Slovenia, Istanbul, Uzbekistan, and Oman, as well as leading figures from the Shi‘a community such as Ayatollah Muhammad Ali Taskhiri of Iran. The letter was also signed by HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad bin Talal of Jordan and by Muslim scholars in the West such as Shaykh Hamza Yusuf from California, Professor Seyyed Hossein Nasr of George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and Professor Tim Winter of the University of Cambridge.
One of my earliest childhood memories is of hearing the church bell toll for Sunday morning worship in the small, rural town in which I was raised. The Methodist Church was an old, wooden structure with a bell tower, two children’s Sunday School classrooms cubbyholed behind folding, wooden doors to separate it from the sanctuary, and a choir loft that housed the Sunday school classrooms for the older children. It stood less than two blocks from my home. As the bell rang, we would come together as a family, and make our weekly pilgrimage to the church. read more »
This is a nice Microsoft Excel file that will calculate your Zakat. download here
Oh Muslims! Zakat is one of the 5 pillars of Islam, so do not neglect it! Allah SWT says in the Quran:
“O ye who believe! there are indeed many among the priests and anchorites, who in Falsehood devour the substance of men and hinder (them) from the way of Allah. And there are those who bury gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah. announce unto them a most grievous penaltyOn the Day when heat will be produced out of that (wealth) in the fire of Hell, and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, their flanks, and their backs.- “This is the (treasure) which ye buried for yourselves: taste ye, then, the (treasures) ye buried!” (The Holy Qur’an 9:34-35).
It’s a very nice interview where Galloway talks very passionately about Lebanon War and Israel’s aggression towards Palestinians and Lebanese people. I wish our Imams would defend Islam in this manner, where are you O! Imams!?
Da Vinci Code controversy - It is everywhere! Dan Brown’s book claims Jesus in not divine or God, and the gospels as we know them, have been changed, and after Jesus stay here on earth, men raised his status to the level of God. Could any of this be true?
Ancient secrets of the Church, hidden for centuries have actually been revealed and published in books prior to the fictional writings of Brown in the Da Vinci Code. Baigent and Leigh have produced other books from researchers point of view over the last two decades, including “Dead Sea Scrolls Deception”, “Holy Blood, Holy Grail”, and “Messianic Legacy.” These books were the talk of the religious communities when they came out in the early 90’s and certianly they have fueled an ongoing interest into just exactly who was this man Jesus, what was his message and what happened to him? read full article
Reporting on the Iranian people who are set to join Labanese people to fight against Israel, CNN uses the word “volunteers” rather than the usual “jihad” word that they use when reporting a similar news. CNN perfectly knows that if the word Jihad is used, Israel could be in trouble, since Jihad is an obligatory act of every Muslim irrespective of the country one resides in. It is an act of defence of the Muslim people and their country from the oppression of the invaders by the whole Muslim nation.
When CNN reports other incidents like killing of the iraqi or afghan freedom fighter they use the words “islamists”, “jihad” and “terorrists” very closely, so that they are psychologically linked in every US citizen’s minds. So that US people will keep supporting the War on Iraq, War on Afganistan, War of Israel on Palestine, and now War of Israel on Lebanon. All these wars are supported by the US people’s tax money. And for that CNN plays a major role in brainwashing the people, in convincing them that they are supporting for the right cause.
For all the people who get their news from CNN, my advice is to read the news from other sources as well. So that you get a different perspective, Al-Jazeera is a good place to start.
The screenshot of the BBC website above is reporting identical to the Haaretz website below, they choosed to make a front page report about the 9 Israeli soldiers that were killed in Lebanon and ignored the 400+ Lebanese civilians including women, children and elderly that have died under the Israeli bombshells.
This kind of biased reporting is brainwashing westerners (in fact the whole world) from getting to the truth, if you want to know the truth then check this out: http://www.fromisraeltolebanon.com
While the Lebanese are fighting for survival amidst relentless deadly attacks by Israel, the Jewish State is receiving strong encouragement and support from an unusual source; Evangelical Christians.
Thousands of evangelical Christians converged on Washington last week to urge lawmakers back Israel, currently engaged in an unjustified offensive that’s killed scores of civilians in Lebanon and Palestine, and declaring their unwavering support for the Jewish State.
More than 3,000 Christians flocked to Washington and are staying at their own expense to ask Bush’s admin “not to restrain Israel in any way in the pursuit of Hamas and Hezbollah”, as part of the first annual summit of Christians United for Israel, the founder of the group said. more
This is an appeal to all human beings Muslims and Non-Muslims alike, who are watching what is happening to Lebanon and Palestine, and unfortunately doing nothing. We all are preoccupied with our jobs, families and bills, we have lots of commitments and we do not have time for voluntary activities. However these are NOT an acceptable reasons for not helping our brothers and sisters in Islam, who are living in a terrified state in Palestine and Lebanon, who are being bombed day and night by the Jewish state, irrespective of age, gender and religion. With few clicks of your mouse you can donate some money to them. And this can help them to acquire needed medical supplies for the wounded and for rebuilding their houses for those who are left homeless.
You don’t have to be a Muslim to help people in Palestine and Lebanon, because Zionist Regime (Israel) bombs everybody irrespective of their religion, it does not matter to them if you are a Muslim, Christian or even a Jew. There are many Arab Christians who suffered Zionist Regime’s crimes all these while. If you are a person that can differentiate what is right from what is wrong, and if you can see who is the real oppressor and who is the real oppressed (not the oppressed which is reported on TV) then by donating small amount you can make a difference.
“Between Christianity and Islam I understood immediately that Islam was the right choice.”
Born in Italy Mamdouh Abdul Qawi Dello Russo entered Islam in 1998. “As a practicing Catholic I attended church every Sunday and always read the Gospels. But there were things in Christianity that did not convince me like praying to statues and at times it really sounded strange ‘the son of God’. read more »
